Jim Lucas is Vice President of the United States Western Region for Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas (MHPSA). He has over 27 years of experience in the power industry including gas turbines for military fighter jets at Pratt & Whitney, stationary gas and steam turbines for power, and environmental retrofits for solid fuel power plants. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Mechanics from the United States Air Force Academy and also a Master of Science Degree in Management from Troy University. His background includes engineering, project management, service, marketing and sales. After his initial service in the US Air Force as a Captain, he began working at Pratt & Whitney Military in West Palm Beach, Florida where he tested and developed new gas turbines, including the F119, which is the workhorse for the F-22 and F-35 fighter aircraft. During his career, he went to work for Siemens Power Generation in the stationary power plant industry in a variety of positions including Long Term Service, Marketing and Sales. He then went to work for Hitachi Power Systems to focus on new ultra- supercritical coal plants and retrofits responsible for the Southeast Region. His current responsibilities with MHPSA include the promotion of dispatchable and flexible power generation capabilities, including advanced large frame gas turbines and other products to assist the heavy renewable growth in this region.
