Carlo Bonfante

Secretary for Economic Development Baja California, Mexico

He graduated in Business Administration with specialization in Marketing from San Diego State University. As an entrepreneur he is dedicated to creating and growing businesses in different industries, such as manufacturing, mining, transportation, health services and housing, based on excellence and competitiveness.

As a promoter and entrepreneur, he has led several business organizations, characterized by his experience in the relevant issues of promotion and development of industrial, commercial and agricultural sectors. Worth mentioning are his turn as Chairman of the Business Coordinating Council Mexicali (CCE), and Technical Coordinator of the CCEs in Baja California. He has also served as President of the Mexicali chapter of the National Chamber of Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA) and as President of CANACINTRA’s Regional Industrial Alliance.

Mr. Bonfante is a member of Baja California Governor Francisco Vega de Lamadrid’s Cabinet, heading the Secretariat of Economic Development, where he coordinates the efforts of the Economic Cabinet and the work of the Secretariat, based on the mainstays of business development, investment attraction, exportations and boosting of competitiveness, as stated in the 2014-2019 State Development Plan.

He has promoted binational cooperation with California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and Virginia through joint agreements and agendas; and he was president of the Northern Border commission of the Mexican Association of Economic Development Secretaries (AMSDE) during 2018.
