Thomas F. Farrell, II, is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Dominion Energy.
Farrell joined the company in 1995 and has served as an officer of Dominion Energy and many of its subsidiaries. He was executive vice president of the company from 1999 to 2003 and president and chief operating officer from January 2004 to December 2005. In January 2006, he was named president and chief executive officer and was elected chairman of the company’s board in April 2007.He is the presiding director of Altria Group Inc. and a member of the board of directors of AEGIS insurance company. Farrell also serves on the board of directors of the Edison Electric Institute, of which he was chairman from 2011 to 2012, and as chairman of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.
He is on the board of trustees of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and chairman of the Richmond Performing Arts Center. He is the past chairman of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and currently serves on its board. He is past chairman of the board of trustees of the Virginia Business Council, and a former member of the University of Virginia board of visitors, where he served as rector, and the former chairman of the Governor’s Commission on Higher Education. He also served on the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
He earned his undergraduate degree in economics in 1976 and his law degree in 1979, both from the University of Virginia.
